ACID

Hello whoever may be reading this, over the years over started to develop a love for acid lines, and im not talking about illegal things, im talking about the roland TB-303(there are also hardware and software clones of this, but i cant tell the difference). The 303 was developed from 1982-1984 - and although originally marketed towards guitarists as a bass accompaniment, it was quickly used heavily in electronic music. Its simply a sequencer that makes crazy, yet appropriate noises.

The first track im posting today is an old kitsune release that i found somewhere on the internet(i believe it was kitsune 35, but theres no discogs entry) that i love - it takes a while to build, but it sums up newer use of acid noises, and does so very well. The vocals are kinda poppy so they grow on you quite fast - Its called 'Cerebral Tremolo', the original is by 'Kaos' and this is the 'Kahn In My Head Mix'. On the remix duties is Khan - check him out, he is part of Captain Camatose. Amazing acid.

Koas - Cerebral Tremolo (Khan In My Head Mix)

The next track is by a guy called Fast Eddie - A huge Chicago house producer and a pioneer of acid, he also produced some ghetto house tracks in the 90's with DJ funk as well . This track is nearly impossible to mix in, a pain to mix out of, but an amazing track nonetheless. Elements of Piano house, Acid house, and far too many claps = an acid classic. Get your hands on the dub of 'Acid Thunder' as well, its equally as good.

Fast Eddie - I can dance

So the next track is super weird...i don't know where and how i found it, but worth a listen, thats for sure! Everyone knows 'Heart of Glass' by Blondie - its been remixed and sampled all over the place, it was written in the late 70's so that gives it nearly 40 years to be f*cked with. This 'remix' is just a loop of heart of glass with an acid line and a beat over the top. Sometimes acid can be really hypnotic and repetitive, and this is a perfect example. Edited by 'Like A Tim' off their Game Girl EP. Strange strange Acid.

Like a Tim - Blond Break

Last but not least is 'Hot Acid Rhythm' by the Chemical Brothers - they need no introduction, but if you listen carefully in tons of their tracks there are underlying acid basslines. This came off the 'It began in Afrika' EP/vinyl, a track introduced to me a couple of years ago on a compilation called 'Lights out 2 by Steve Lawler'.
As well as 'Star Guitar', this is one of my favorite Chemical brothers tracks, and i can only imagine what this would be like to hear in a huge festival in Germany or something along those lines. Not very DJ friendly, and make sure your mum and dad don't hear it, they might evict you....or might start dancing.
