Mixtapes

Hello readers, its been a long time since i have done any updates, but i guess i don't really have much 'audience' so it's not like anyone will get angry.
Ive made a couple of mixtapes over time, but usually don't get around to mastering/publishing them, which kinda defeats the purpose of creating them? So im gonna publish two of them, just to archive them on the internet for future reference(oh and so you guys can listen to them). First one is an Acid house mix i made, and in turn got published at The Acid House. I used heaps of filters and delay, so i named it Acid/Delay/Filters. SUPER CREATIVE NAME, I KNOW. It incorporates some new and some old tunes - my personal favorite out of the tape being "Hello Yellow" by Rodion.

Anyways - download it, listen to it, slightly educate yourself in ACID.

Neil UP - Acid/Delay/Filters

1.Cerebral Tremolo (Khan in my Head Mix) – Kaos
2.Shout – LSB
3.When We Acid – Tubeway
4.Don’t Say No (Pumpin Acid mix) – Tom tom club
5.I Sit On Acid (Mixin up the Acid) – Lords of Acid
6.Acid Life – Nacho Lovers
7.The Trip (Microdot House Mix) – S’express
8.Hello Yellow – Rodion
9.Moog on Acid – Steve Rachmad
10.Is You (Brodinski Mix) – D.I.M.
11.Where’s Your Girlfreind? – Aphex Twin

Next one is a deep techno mixtape i made one afternoon. Its basically the backing track for a Techno party in a Graveyard; My personal favorite techno tracks in my collection. Notable favorites are "Red/Purple" by Thomas Schumacher at about 19 minutes and the track that mixes out of it - "Human Jungle" by Santos. Everyone should download it, and play it at your local Graveyard(Or Not?!).

Neil UP! - Graveyard Groove Pt1

1.He Not It - Hobo
2.Striking Distance - Joey Beltram
3.Baby Kate - Heartthrob (Konrad Black Remix)
4.Lynchesque - Dusty Kid
5.Red/Purple - Thomas Schumacher
6.Human Jungle - Maskio (Santo Re-Edit)
7.Ghost Train - Deepgroove & Jamie Anderson
8.Petit Totocar - Noob.

ENJOY!

Bangerz

Hello ya'll. Due to popular demand, and a small increase in spare time on my behalf (due to not going out on the weekend) I am gonna put some 'bangerz' up. I describe a banger as 'A G-string visibly hanging above the waistline of a tacky chick', but apparently its a really good track that makes people dance really spontaneously for a couple of minutes, depending on how much 'bang' that song has. So using a rough scale, I am gonna say a good banger that goes for 5 minutes would actually 'bang' for 3 minutes (deducting one minute on either end of the beat, and mixing in and/or out). I am bored of this subject already.

The first track is by some of favorite newest producers, i have followed alot of their work since they started releasing bootlegs over blogs. Joe and Will Ask? just released an EP on Kitsune called 'Claymore', to tell the you truth - from what i remember, i don't really like it, and i was a little disappointed to hear all of their past bootlegs and remixes, and then when they have an initial release its not my thing. They made a massive bootleg of 'Mark Houle - Techno vocals' that would go down really well in a huge stadium. The track im posting is the Joe and Will Ask? remix of 'Gazebo' by 'Fairmont'.I didn't get this off a blog, and i haven't really seen it floating around. Heaps of white noise, two epic breakdowns - an inevitable peak time 'bngr'.

Fairmont - Gazebo (Joe and Will Ask? rmx)

The next track is not as bangerish, 'Androgynous' by 'Statik', a good peaktime tune, to squeeze in-between songs to give the crowd a bit of a break - so i guess its not really a banger. Anyway - i really like the structure how the synth-line comes through really early, and the bassline is really natural. Sounds a little bit like Pryda, with the whole progressive feel. In a non music related note - Im not really a fan of the androgynous look amongst dudes, like a loose pair of stovepipes don't astray, but when you walk out the door looking like a female captain cook you gotta start re-considering your steez. Note: this does not apply to people in same-sex relationships.

Statik - Androgynous

I remember showing an old flat mate this next song, and i think he started dancing in my bedroom. His name was Stuart Rossiter, and he was fun to live with - he has the ability to make you feel good about something your into, when everyone else tells you its not that good. He showed me how to play vinyls, triangulate money borrowing, and heaps of other cool shit. A man dedicated to bangerz these days, amongst all his babes.
The KNIFE are unbelievable, i do not need to write anything about them - because you probly know more than me. M.A.N.D.Y. on the remix, off their '12 Great Remixes for 11 Great Artists' album. Go out and buy it, and if you don't buy it, delete it after you listen to it.

The Knife - Pass This On(M.A.N.D.Y. Knifer mix)

The next track is by some of my personal favorites - 'Smith 'n' Hack', Smith and Hack are comprised of Errorsmith and Soundhack. They make techno that sounds like it was produced in space. I'm assuming your already familar with their remix of Herbet's 'Moving Like a Train', I got the vinyl from JB HIFI for ten dollars - and still havent't opened it i like it so much. Space Warrior by Smith 'n' Hack is intense to say the least, and all those video game space noises, and never ending test tones is enough to send you slightly loopy but the choir vocals and rolling bassline seem to even everything out. Heavily under rated and I am hanging out for the next time they are in Sydney.

Smith 'n' Hack - Space Warrior

Ok - so there was not many 'brszrzgz' there, or whatever new abbreviation is trendy right now, but there was tons of amazing tunes - so whether they 'bang' or not is really about the right place at the right time rather then the biggest banger all the time.....right? Also - UP-LOG has recently banned you transferring songs to use on your ringtone/train ride. Thank you for your time. UP.

ACID

Hello whoever may be reading this, over the years over started to develop a love for acid lines, and im not talking about illegal things, im talking about the roland TB-303(there are also hardware and software clones of this, but i cant tell the difference). The 303 was developed from 1982-1984 - and although originally marketed towards guitarists as a bass accompaniment, it was quickly used heavily in electronic music. Its simply a sequencer that makes crazy, yet appropriate noises.

The first track im posting today is an old kitsune release that i found somewhere on the internet(i believe it was kitsune 35, but theres no discogs entry) that i love - it takes a while to build, but it sums up newer use of acid noises, and does so very well. The vocals are kinda poppy so they grow on you quite fast - Its called 'Cerebral Tremolo', the original is by 'Kaos' and this is the 'Kahn In My Head Mix'. On the remix duties is Khan - check him out, he is part of Captain Camatose. Amazing acid.

Koas - Cerebral Tremolo (Khan In My Head Mix)

The next track is by a guy called Fast Eddie - A huge Chicago house producer and a pioneer of acid, he also produced some ghetto house tracks in the 90's with DJ funk as well . This track is nearly impossible to mix in, a pain to mix out of, but an amazing track nonetheless. Elements of Piano house, Acid house, and far too many claps = an acid classic. Get your hands on the dub of 'Acid Thunder' as well, its equally as good.

Fast Eddie - I can dance

So the next track is super weird...i don't know where and how i found it, but worth a listen, thats for sure! Everyone knows 'Heart of Glass' by Blondie - its been remixed and sampled all over the place, it was written in the late 70's so that gives it nearly 40 years to be f*cked with. This 'remix' is just a loop of heart of glass with an acid line and a beat over the top. Sometimes acid can be really hypnotic and repetitive, and this is a perfect example. Edited by 'Like A Tim' off their Game Girl EP. Strange strange Acid.

Like a Tim - Blond Break

Last but not least is 'Hot Acid Rhythm' by the Chemical Brothers - they need no introduction, but if you listen carefully in tons of their tracks there are underlying acid basslines. This came off the 'It began in Afrika' EP/vinyl, a track introduced to me a couple of years ago on a compilation called 'Lights out 2 by Steve Lawler'.
As well as 'Star Guitar', this is one of my favorite Chemical brothers tracks, and i can only imagine what this would be like to hear in a huge festival in Germany or something along those lines. Not very DJ friendly, and make sure your mum and dad don't hear it, they might evict you....or might start dancing.

Chemical Brothers - Hot Acid Rhythm

Thanks for the Comments everyone, due to popular demand, i have some 'bangerz' lined up for next week - special 'we love sounds' edition. HA!

Can't really make up my mind?

Lets not stick to one genre - thats just narrow minded and silly. It understandable you might 'like' something heaps - but lets not overkill. Its very easy to convince yourself something is amazing because you listen to it over and over again, when really you could be spending that time diversifying into something you might actually enjoy. As much as i like listening to the same album/track/mixtape over and over again, I need to explore, and i need to explore now.

LSB are Pete Herbert & Georgina Fernandez. I don't really know much about Georgina, but I remember hearing his remix of 'Maelstrom - Enter the Cosmos' at a local record store about a year ago, and nearly started dancing. I was a bit reluctant to dive into 'disco' music cause all i picture is girls on roller-skates and disco STU doing the Nutbush. Back to the matter at hand - Pete is one half of Optimo, one Half of LSB and probably involved a million other side-projects. I missed him when he came out, and im bummed. This is a B-Side called Cosmic Wild Boar. Check they're MYSPACE.

LSB - Cosmic Wild Boar

Also look for Shout by LSB - a very simple filtered number with a huge acid line. Speaking of Acid lines (something that we dig very much at Late Notice) - is a track by Jesper and John Dahlback - Forsberg Loves The Acid. Jesper is an amazing producer and engineer, i own a couple of his vinyls (which hopefully i will rip in the future). I am totally obsessed with his track POLYHOUSE (reworked). Jesper is Johns older cousin - Why cant my cousins be awesome producers? Instead of getting plastic cricket sets and hand-me-downs at Christmas i would of gotten 303's and Moogs?

Jesper and John Dahlback - Forsberg Loves The Acid

Running with a bit of techno here - The next track has a striking similarity to Erotic Discourse. HOBO is one man - Joel Boychuk, i don't really know much about this guy - but he is unbelievable - his debut album 'From A to B' was released on Ritchie Hawtins label M_nus. The vinyl release LP was Failsafe/Midnight, so i am guessing those two tracks were most popular in the techno scene, but im posting 'IM NOT IT'.

Hobo - Im Not It - link not working?!?!?

A darker track that is best heard loud - preferably in an underground abandoned train yard rave....with zombies. I know that sounds specific but this is serious underground techno that certainly has a time and place - it may not be for the 7:30am train from Stanmore to the City, But im sure if you blast it at a bender some ring-in will shake your hand or give you a cigarette of something.

As much as i would love to post hours of throbbing techno - 'it scares girls'....So here is something for the whole family. John & Jehn are from france - so i guess that makes them good or something? Whatever your stance on regional music - this is dope disco. With some more indie and progressive elements in this record its a perfect balance to make everyone dance. I could not find much information on this french duo from discogs, so im guessing they have day jobs or kids or something like that. On the remix is Mighty Mouse who i also can't find much information on. There are some really average-bad remixes of this floating around on the internet, so this one will surely turn your frown upside down. IF YOU LIKE IT, BUY IT.

John & Jenn - Looking For You (Mighty Mouse NYC Sensations Mix)

Comments Welcomed!

Hello

Hello and welcome to Late Notice blog.
Late Notice is a monthly party which started 08/05/08. Collectively Late Notice is Le Rouge, Raz and Neil UP. My name is Neil, and I constantly trawl the internet, Record Stores, Garage Sales, Bargain stores, Flea Markets.....etc for ELECTRONIC music, and feel the need to share it with you.
You may or may not know me, but over the next couple of months, hopefully i can filter through my music collection and hopefully put some tracks on your ipod's and you can support the artist and buy the record/digital release.
Alot of the stuff i post here will be stuff i have found myself through extensive searching and listening - God bless DISCOGS.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I WILL NOT POST THE ANY OF 'THE LATEST BANGERZ', I WILL NOT POST YOUR REMIX/NEW TRACK AND I WILL NOT POST YOUR EDITORIAL ON YOUR LATEST ADVENTURE. But i encourage you to further educate me, and point me in the direction of something that may have slipped through my radar - you could say i am merely a spiderweb in a forest full of music(?).

Thank you.
